The Ochilview boss has invited former top referee Hugh Dallas – now a member of the SFL refereeing advisory committee – to address his squad tonight (Thursday), and he trusts the exercise will benefit everybody.
"I thought Kevin's red card agai
nst Dumbarton was a bit harsh," he told Heraldsport.
"After watching a DVD of the game, however, I want to vindicate referee Anthony Law because he had no option under the current rules.
"There are a lot of grey areas at the moment and I am delighted Hugh has agreed to come along and explain the up-to-date situation. He will make a presentation with a DVD and discuss any observations we may make.
"I saw the presentation prior to last week's Alba Challenge Cup final at McDiarmid Park, but had already engaged Hugh as I think we can all get a better understanding of the referees' position and the decisions they have to make.
"I have personally slated refs in the past couple of months for decisions I have thought were wrong, only to discover later on they were correct, and I want to update my knowledge before I open my trap in the future.
"There are a lot of managers, myself included, who have had a go at refs in the Press only to end up with egg on their face. So I want to make sure I know what I am talking about before I question decisions.
"I also want my players to have a greater awareness of the current rules and the thinking behind the exercise is to make us a better team."
