The community of Whitecross braved the rain to turn out for the village’s Christmas light switch on on Sunday.

Youngster Cody Wilson, who had won this year’s competition, had his hand on the big red button after the countdown.

He was joined by his school friends as they sang and danced with Elfie.

There was some festive magic in the village with the committee from Whitecross Junction even managing to make it snow on the night.

The switch on isn’t all that the committee have planned in the village in the run up to Christmas.

They are set to host a special visit from Santa himself on Thursday, December 22 before he heads back to the North Pole to get everyone’s gifts ready for the big day.

More information about Santa’s visit can be found on the Whitecross Junction’s Facebook page.
