The birth of Thomas Fraser
THE DETAILS: Thomas Hume Campbell Fraser was born in the Borders General Hospital, Melrose, on August 25, 2008, at 1.04 a.m., weighing in at 5 lb 10 oz.

THE PARENTS: Carolyn Fraser (nee Hardie) is 38 and from Melrose. She is a staff nurse at Borders General Hospital. Jevan Fraser (36), formerly of 6 Sandyloan Crescent, Laurieston, is a town planner.

THE PREGNANCY: The nine months went very well with no problems.

THE BIRTH: Thomas was born after a seven–hour labour. Because of an infection, the infant was taken care of in the special care baby unit for a week.

THE BABY: Thomas is thriving.

THE NAME: Carolyn and Jevan thought Thomas was a nice christian name, and the others are family names.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Sandra and John Fraser of Laurieston; Bob Hardie of St Boswells; and Val Walker of Eyemouth.

THANKS: Sincere thanks are extended to the maternity unit at the Borders General Hospital in Melrose; and the family for their support and help.
