In pictures: All the fun at community event in Brightons' Quarry Park

Crowds turned out to support a fun day in a village park at the weekend.

Friends of Quarry Park organised the event in Brightons on Saturday.

The group is fundraising to transform the greenspace in the heart of their village into a community hub that can be used by everyone living in the area.

And what better way than bringing all ages into the park to enjoy an event.

Thanking everyone for making it such a great day, Friends chairperson Fiona Hynes said: “Thankfully, the rain stayed away although the gusty wind gave us a few scary moments

The crowds loved The Clan BMX Stunt team, whose show was amazing and everyone was delighted with Jonny Chainsaw's stunning carvings.

“The children were very happy with the four bouncy inflatables, face painting, the big red fire engine, (thanks to Red Watch) and the Beat the Goalie challenge.

“Muiravonside Country Rangers, MX Medical first aiders, Recyke-a-bike, the local Boys Brigade, the Braes police, stalls selling hand made goods and plants, food and refreshment trucks and ice cream (kindly supplied by Candied), all contributed to the fantastic family day out.

“Our popular raffle and tombola stall raised £1050 for Quarry Park funds.

“Friends of Quarry Park would like to thank everyone who came along to support us, the volunteers and litter pickers and the many local businesses and residents who donated to the raffle and tombola.

“The entire event was funded by an award from The National Lottery Community Fund, made possible by National Lottery players.

“We have already secured funding to upgrade the playpark and so work will go ahead by the end of the year. We will continue to fundraise to upgrade the rest of the park and hope that new members and volunteers will join us in this quest.”
