Falkirk Council's planning committee looked at a partially retrospective application from The Orchard Hotel's Stuart Crawford to change the use from office and hairdressers to a hotel at 22 and 26 Princes Street and 2, 4 and 6 Kerse Lane, Falkirk.

The application was initially considered at meeting of the committee on August 17 and continued.

Councillor Colin Chalmers put forward a motion to refuse the application on the grounds it would have a detrimental impact on a conservation area but was unable to get someone to second it.

Decision

A number of committee members voiced concerns over the retrospective nature of the application but agreed to grant planning permission, stating it would have a positive economic impact on the town.
